Museum of the Broads WordPress Website Design

Sep 20, 2019

The Museum of the Broads in Stalham, an institution dedicated to preserving the rich history and natural beauty of the Norfolk and Suffolk Broads, recently approached us to design and develop their new website. We were thrilled to be tasked with such an exciting project, and set about creating a website that would reflect the museum’s mission, values and objectives.

One of the key considerations for the museum was that the website be easy to use, both for visitors to the museum and for the museum staff themselves. To achieve this, we used the WordPress content management system, a popular and intuitive platform that allows for easy updates and management of website content. The site was designed with a clear and user-friendly interface, with key information prominently displayed on the front page and in the header. Visitors can easily find information about visiting the museum, including opening times, admission prices, and directions to the museum.

In addition to providing essential visitor information, the museum also wanted the website to serve as a hub for community engagement and involvement. To this end, we included pages dedicated to educational resources and support, including information for school groups and organized trips. The museum is committed to supporting local schools and providing opportunities for young people to learn about the unique environment and history of the Broads, and we made sure to highlight these efforts on the website.

Another important aspect of the website was to provide opportunities for people to get involved with the museum, whether through volunteering, donating, or participating in fundraising activities. We created dedicated pages for each of these activities, with clear calls to action and user-friendly forms that make it easy to sign up or donate.

The website is mobile friendly, using a responsive design to adjust to the screen size.

We also ensured that the website was accessible to a wide range of users, including those with visual or hearing impairments. We included alt tags for images, transcripts for videos, and made sure that the site was optimized for screen readers and other assistive technologies.

Overall, we are extremely proud of the website that we created for the Museum of the Broads. It reflects the museum’s commitment to preserving and promoting the unique history and ecology of the Broads, while also providing a user-friendly and engaging online experience for visitors and community members alike. We look forward to continuing to work with the museum in the future to ensure that their online presence remains an effective and valuable resource for years to come.
